Professor Abhijit Majumdar
Professor in Charge of the Academy at IITD
Abhijit Majumdar is Ramchandran Jaikumar Chair Professor of Decision Sciences at the Department of Textile and Fibre Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. He researches and teaches subjects on supply chain management, sustainability and circularity, and textile engineering.
He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Huddersfield, UK (2026-2031) and the University of Boras, Sweden (2025). He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam (2026-2027). He has authored two textbooks and edited five books. He has published 195 research papers which have received more than 10,000 citaions. He has received large research grants, cumulatively amounting 440 million INR, from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Defence Research and Development Organisation, and several more. He has transferred two technologies to industries for commercialisation. He is an editor of the Journal of the Textile Institute (IF: 1.5); area editor of Operations Management Research Journal (IF: 5.3); and associate editor of International Journal of Logistics Management (IF: 6.4). He is a recipient of Eminent Engineer Award of Institution of Engineers, India (2023), Best Industry Relevant Ph.D and Masters Project Supervision Award, IIT Delhi (2023 & 2019); Teaching Excellence Award of IIT Delhi (2015) and Outstanding Young Faculty Fellowship, IIT Delhi (2009-2014).
Dr Majumdar commenced as the Professor in Charge of the Academy (PICA) of the UQ-IITD Research Academy in May 2026.
