Aakanksha Kumari completed her integrated master’s (BS-MS) degree in Chemistry with a minor in Earth Sciences at the Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER) Mohali, India. She has received recognition for her exceptional performance, including being awarded the DST INSPIRE Fellowship by the Ministry of Science & Technology. Her doctoral thesis focuses on investigating the variability in Indian summer monsoon during the past ten thousand years. Her research interests lie in the field of geochemistry, paleoclimatology and understanding long-term climate patterns.
Significant spatial and temporal heterogeneity exist between the records of past monsoon variability calling for independent, well-dated paleoclimate reconstructions. This project aims to reconstruct high resolution monsoon changes across the last 10,000 years using lake archives from North India.
